Welcome
The
International Smiley Zippy Party was originally created by Pete
Loveday in one of his very funny comic books featuring Russell,
a generally confused and harassed toking everyman (all comics available
from AK Press).
We have gratuitously ripped off the name and also many examples
of Mr Lovedays's artwork to set up this site. We hope very much
that he would approve of it.
So,
what's it all about? Well I guess we should explain our terms:
Smiley: avoiding violence and looking for peaceful rather
than violent change - evolution rather than revolution. Definitely
fluffy rather than spikey.
Zippy: hippy values but with a liking for cool technology.
Your average zippies probably rides a bike, loves the internet,
invests in solar power and grows his own.
How
do we intend to change the world for the better (if at all)? Well,
erm, there does seem to be a certain amount of gardening involved,
oh and of course, choosing our own rules for the game of life. As
the Mahatma Ghandi said, 'Be the change you want to see'.
We ain't no preachers man, we're just living our lives the way we
want to.
We've
taken Epicurus's wishlist for happiness: a home, friendship, independence
and philosophy, added the missing element of art and creativity
and boiled it all down to our slogan: Life, Love, Liberty and
Laughter an easy to remember, all-encompassing, hopefully appealing
summary of our purpose and joys.
All feedback
and contributions are welcome. Enjoy your visit and please come
again. |
